Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

Set the example. Let children see you read.
Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
Support our school’s Book Fair. This allows your children to choose their own books to read.

Get ready for a great time! This years book fair theme is "Books Bring Us Together," and we're about to prove it. Stories create connections and tie us together wherever we are. Scholastic Book Fairs empower kids to find the stories that speak to them. They create community as we safely join each other in a shared love of reading and help provide the support your schools need. We can’t wait to connect with you.

We have three separate options available for families to shop this year. So choose whichever works best for you, as all orders benefit our school.

Our most EXCITING way to shop will take place on Friday evening, at our Family Fun Event. Bring the whole family to the DES Cafeteria for some books, crafts, story time, meet & greets with an actual author and illustrator, and even more surprise guests!

The fair will also be running during school hours the week of Oct. 18-22. Each class will have a designated time to visit the fair, so be sure to check with your teacher(s) for details. In addition to purchasing books during the in-school fair hours, this is a great time for students to browse and add books to their wish list to purchase at the family night.
